2 Troupes Victorious at 2006 CCII Urban Dance Championships!

The Urban Dance Championships, held on November 4, 2006 at the Glenn Gould Studio was an exciting show with a surprising twist. The competition showcased a new format with live onstage DJ/Host D.Shon as well as instant feedback from the judges Tamara Vahn, Laura Furtado and Special Guest Judge, Universal Recording Artist, Jully Black. Opening the show was the dynamic dance duo 2Badd, the hottest & youngest dance crew in Canada. They recently won a competition on BET's "Wild-Out Wednesdays". In the past year, 2Badd (10 year old Shemar Charles and 12 year old Lamar Johnson) has appeared on Showtime at the Apollo, Breakfast Television, YTV’s The Zone, Daytime Toronto, Sean Paul’s Temperature, Donmillion’s It Ain’t Trickin video and most recently opened for Chris Brown at the Hershey Center.

The dance competition had 50% more competitors than the 2005 Championships. After all the talented groups performed in Round One, the top three with the highest scores were Rated E, Touch International and the 2005 Champions, Hawk Gurlz. The precisely choreographed and creative routines wowed the judges and after battling it out in Round Two, Rated E claimed the $500.00 First Place prize cheque and trophy. In a surprising twist, Jully Black declared Touch International the winners as well offering another $500 prize of her own money! Talk about a tough competition! Hawk Gurlz took the 2nd Place trophy. The top groups were also featured at the Canadian Classic II Natural Bodybuilding Finals that evening, performing their award-winning routines to a packed house. Thanks to all our participants, judges and fans for a great show!
