IDFA – By Competitors, for competitors
August, 2006

2006 was a great competitve season for IDFA President, Shaun Campbell and IDFA V.P., Desmona Cole. Not only did they organize and host a competition in June (IDFA Toronto Classic) but they managed to find enough time and focus to diet and compete in 4 shows over the summer. At the Ontario Naturals on June 24, Shaun took home 1st place in Bantamweight Bodybuilding class which qualified him for the Nationals (World Qualifier) on August 5.

At the World Qualifier, Shaun placed 2nd in Open Men's Bantamweight. The judges really took their time tabulating his weight class and kept everyone in suspense while they waited on stage. He came into the show 'shredded' and got many comments afterwards on his conditioning. He got a close 2nd to the eventual overall winner. For the first time in the show's history the Bantamweight won the Overall (last years' CBBF National Bantamweight Champion) .

Desmona placed 2nd in the Masters (over 35) Bodybuilding class at the Ontario Naturals which also qualified her for the Nationals (World Qualifier). She also placed 2nd at the Southwestern Natural Championships on July 8 coming in leaner and meaner the second time around. Her muscularity deceived alot of spectators who couldn't believe her contest weight hovered at or below 100 lbs.

A newcomer to the sport, Desmona plans to make huge gains in the off-season and take the 2007 season by storm. As most competitors can attest to, competitive bodybuilding is mainly about determination and self-disciplne. It can also be an emotional rollercoaster for women as well as men.

Congratulations to Shaun and Desmona who prove that their organization is run by competitors
for competitors!
