SC:
Thanks for the interview Judy. Can you please give us a description of yourself?
JD: Sure! I’m a very outgoing personality with a good sense of humor. I’m a mom of two beautiful children, ages 3 & 5 who keep me young and on the go. I love being a homemaker, mom and athlete.
SC: How long have you been weight training and/or involved in fitness?
JD: I have always been fairly active throughout the years with gymnastics and aerobics but in 2000 I decided to get back to the gym, higher a personal trainer and get into the weights.
SC: How did you become interested in competing in Figure?
LW: In 2002 I sustained a very serious hamstring injury due to doing a fitness competition. I decided that the high impact routine was too much to continue with and that Figure would be an interesting challenge. The women had beautiful physiques and were a true inspiration. I really like the look of the Figure Competitors, with a fuller more classic physique of femininity.
SC:
What motivates you on those tough days during contest prep?
JD: Chocolate!!
Ha, ha just kidding.
I just stay focused with what’s ahead. Working on my posing, choosing outfits, music... and stay close with friends who are competition and feeling the same. It’s great having the networking of other athlete’s going through tough times of diet, mood swings etc.
SC:
How long have you been competing?
JD: I have been competiting for 5 years. I began in 2001 and took 2003/2005 off to have a family.
SC: What have you learned from competing?
JD: I’ve learned how to believe in myself and too push my limits. I’ve learned to be more dedicated and focused with all different aspects of my life and also to share with others what I’ve learned through my experiences as an Athlete.
SC: Do you have any tips or advice for upcoming figure competitors?
JD: Always remember to stay true to yourself. Be honest as to why your doing this! Living healthy is a true gift to one’s self and the success you earn is only measured by how much you love what your doing. Stay focused and follow through on your commitment to be strong and successful. Enjoy what your doing!!!!
SC: At the IDFA Canadian Classic III where you earned your IDFA Pro Card you showed up much improved from your previous competitions. What did you do differently?
JD: I decided to kick it up a notch with my plyometric training and put more time into my posing, presentation and overall appearance. Also, making changes every 4-6 wks with my wt. program helped shake the muscles up.
SC:
Do you train on your own or do you have a training partner?
JD: I do have a training partner whom I’ve been training with for 3 years now. It’s great having him there everyday to spot, motivate and push my limits.
SC: What about supplements? What are your favourites?
JD: My favorites are Udo’s, The ALLMAX Quick Mass, ALLMAX Glutamine, Dymatize BCAA.
SC: Are you going to be competing as a Pro this year
at either the IDFA Toronto Classic or IDFA Canadian Classic IV?
JD: YES!!! I will be competiting at the IDFA Toronto Classic.
SC:
Any parting words?
JD: “AGE IS NOT A FACTOR – CONDITION IS”
SC: Thanks for the interview Judy.
