SC: Thanks for the interview Paul. Can you please give us a description of yourself?

PIJ: First off Shaun, I wanted to thank you for taking your own personal time for this interview. As far as a description of myself, I am 5’11” and 181 lbs in Contest (Lean 200 lbs in offseason). I am 21 years old, and Born and raised in Rochester, NY.

SC: How long have you been into bodybuilding/weight training?

PIJ: I have been striking poses since I was 4 or so. But I got into and started to study the sport of bodybuilding as a whole when I was 9 years old. My dad was competing a lot in the Natural Scene at that time, and me and my brother Dan (who also competes) went to all my dads’ shows and oiled him up and helped him pump up at that young of an age. I knew what to look for as far as posing and symmetry and judging at that age. I actually choreographed my dad's best routine back then when I was 9 years old, and I got a lot of credit from the other competitors, that were actually serious in asking me for advice backstage.

SC: Tell us about how you got into bodybuilding?

PIJ: Basically through my father, he was always big. So between him competing, and me watching marvel cartoons, I knew I always wanted to compete, I just didn’t know if I would train hard for years and put on the muscle I needed. But I knew if I did, I would do it my way and how I wanted my physique to be sculpted.

SC: What or who inspired you to compete?

PIJ: Bar-none my father. I have such a love for the game, and my dad had just about perfect symmetry when I used to watch him, except his legs were just a “touch” to small for his upper body, and sometimes he would get critiqued by judges, so from there on out ...I told myself “Paul if you ever compete, your legs and calves will match your upper body or almost overpower your upper body” I always wanted big quads and calves, and I think they are pretty good right now.

SC: How did it feel winning the NGA Pro Card?

PIJ: It felt great! I was a on a mission this spring. I knew as long as I bettered myself from last year, then I would be in the running for the Pro-Card. And I came in 1.5 lbs heavier and with .6% less bodyfat on my frame. So I appeared about 3 or 4 lbs bigger.

SC: Does that make you the youngest NGA Pro?

PIJ: Yeah, so far I am the youngest NGA Pro in the Country at 21 years old, but I’m sure someone will beat me soon; it might even be my brother!

SC: How did your first Pro show go? I believe it was last weekend in Texas.

PIJ: It went pretty good, I got 8th and my dad got 7th out of 9 NGA Pros. This was the biggest and baddest pro show the NGA has to offer! We were burned out because that was our 5 show in 6 weeks time, and we were burned out, we couldn’t get a pump. But it was a little bit of a “wake up” call. And we know we need to make some improvements.

SC: What is your favourite bodypart to train? I am Canadian. I know you Americans spell it favorite.

PIJ: I’m not sure, probably back, because that is my best bodypart, but I like chest or arms.

SC: What's your training philosophy?

PIJ: I really listen to my body. I have a different philosophy than a lot of other people. I really try to angle my body a certain way or change a grip or vary exercises for that body part. I really try to emphasize my little weak points!

SC: Do you train on your own or do you have a training partner?

PIJ: I usually train by myself, or possible with my dad or brother (my brother is usually away at school)

SC: What about supplements? What are your favourites?

PIJ: I’m always taking 3-4 protein shakes a day, every day! And I try to vary the brands if I can. I try to use at least 1 serving of Nitro-Tech a day. And I use creatine once in a while, as well as Glutamine.

SC: Any big shows coming up — bodybuilding or otherwise?

PIJ: No big shows coming up for right now, But I am doing the Pro Olympus in the Fall, And I want to win it BAD!! I want to come in a little more improved than this spring.

SC: Any final words?

PIJ: Once again, thanks for your time Shaun. Good luck with your show! I’m sure I will see you at the Olympus this fall!! Everybody keep training hard and stay Natural. If you have any questions or comments, I can be reached via email at Pdude03@yahoo.com

SC: Thanks for the interview Paul.
